Membrane Antiscalant

RO antiscalant helps descale the inorganic scaling. Such a scaling could be caused due to Magnesium, Calcium, Barium, strontium, Iron, Silica and Fluoride. RO antiscalant is a subgroup of variou products as high pH antiscalant, Low pH antiscalant chemicals. WaterEx's Membrane Antiscalant reduces the scaling to about 80% when used regularly.


RO Membrane High pH Antiscalant

WaterEx's High pH Antiscalant process helps to remove super thick in RO Membrane. It has been formulated in a way as it also functions as an antifoulant, thus assisting in maintaining the optimised range for supersaturated salt solutions. This in turn prevents precipitation.

The product helps in reducing scaling and above all also removes the use of harmful acids. Thus, the efficiency of the system is optimised with continuous results.

WaterEx's High pH RO Membrane Antiscalant is usually used for water with Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) up to +2.6, Silica up to 166 ppm, High Silt Density Index (SDI) and Iron up to 1.2 ppm in reject. This product can also work in consonance. It functions alongside with foulants like Calcium Carbonate, Sulfate Salts of Calcium, Strontium, Magnesium, Barium, Calcium fluoride, Silica and Iron.

Application and Dosage

The dosage of WaterEx's high pH RO Antiscalant depends on various factors, requiring tests. A few factors being the alkalinity of the system, pH value, the level of calcium and iron, TDS and the silica content. Yet, the minimum concentration to be fed to the system is 1 ppm and the maximum being 15 ppm.

If during the test the results show high level of iron say 0.5 to 1.0 ppm, it will lead to a need of settling down of calcium that result in increasing the dosage with 10 to 15 ppm in to the system.

While WaterEx high pH RO Antiscalant dose of 10-15 ppm can manage the iron and calcium content and upto 166 ppm of silica as well.

Handling and Storage

Some safety precautions that must always be followed are:

  • ~ Follow the instructions from the material safety data sheet, as wearing splash goggles, lab coats, gloves, boots and vapour respirator while handling with chemicals or being in a factory premise.
  • ~ If there are splashes on your skin, immediate rinsing is required with water.
  • ~ A splash into the eye, calls for immediate need for medical attention.
  • ~ One must not be injected.

WaterEx's RO High pH Antiscalant must be stored in the very same container as provided by the seller.

Keep the containers in covered, closed, cool, dry place, thus away from heat, flame and direct sunlight.

Even though high alkalinity with hardness can be managed by a dose of 4-5 mg/l of the product; yet when high iron content is detected about 1.2 mg/l, the dose needs to be increased. The dosage in that case must increase by 6-8 mg/l just to sustain calcium level.

While WaterEx's Membrane Antiscalant dose of 10-15 mg/l can manage the iron and calcium content and up to 217 mg/l at a pH level of 7.5 of silica as well.
